Unfortunately, these economic times have also been hard on the children, as school counselors have pointed out. Recently, the Junior Achievement organization polled thousands of students in different states and found that 65% of the teens are concerned that the economy will have a negative impact on their financial futures once they have graduated from high school. There are other aspects that concern both children and adults, as 84% of the teens who were polled said that they were worried that the poor economy will negatively impact their family’s financial stability. Experts tell us that this instability is the trigger that often results in a drastic increase in the number of children being abused. No one likes to see children in headlines unless it is a feel good, heartwarming story, but of course the only time you hear about these kids is when it is too late and the effort to prevent the abuse has failed.
