Domestic Violence As A Criminal Defense

Those who experience domestic violence are not only wives or couples nowadays. There are several forms of domestic violence. The abuse may also happen to teenaged boys and girls, men and women, and even those who are on a homosexual or heterosexual relationship. The violence can be on several aspects like the most common which is physical abuse, psychological, emotional and sexual abuse. Many people who became a victim of domestic violence often keep their secrets on their own. As much as possible, they want it to be kept on their own.

 

Rape and sexual exploitation are some of the forms of domestic violence. Another form of domestic violence is prostitution. The number of victims of domestic violence continue to grow as the years pass by. Some celebrities also experience the same of violence among their partners. There are instances wherein due to extreme physical injuries and torture, there are reported cases of death among the other victims.

 

When we say physical abuse, it may pertain to an assault, stabbing, murder, pushing, choking, punching and other means of coercion. Most of the time, it is not the wound itself that makes the victim traumatized but the emotional and psychological burden that they experience. Some of the examples of psychological abuse include any verbal abuse like cursing or demoralizing a person. Most of the time, a victim may forget the physical wounds that they received but they can never forget those emotional trauma that they experience. A professional therapist or counselor is the only person who can definitely help if a person want to overcome their trauma.

 

Another form of violence include sexual, economical and religious abuse. Economic abuse is simply giving restrictions to a certain partner regarding materials things like money. Their partner do not want them to have a work, they want them to stay at home only. When a partner make use of force just to satisfy his sexual needs, then sexual abuse is present. To force the partner to engage in a sexual act is also a form of violence. Religious violence simply includes the use of force and intimidation on a certain individual to join a religious sect or practice.

 

As a result of domestic violence, many families become separated. Homicide is another result of domestic violence. Most of the time, drugs and guns results in a crime. If a certain individual fail to consult a marriage counselor or a family therapist, then they cannot cope up with their trauma. Most of the time, the victims of domestic violence want to keep their experience in secrecy which should not be the case.
